Death Mask by Graham Masterton

Readers can always rely on Masterton to tell a great horror story, no matter how quirky it is! I enjoyed this novel but probably gave it more credit than was due as far as hoping for a more complex plot and ending.

With the premise of the killer, Red Mask, I expected his character to have a more historical and meaningful background, especially once the history behind Molly’s necklace was revealed. The artwork on Sissy’s tarot cards were also very explicit to each situation, and I was a tad baffled that Sissy wasn’t familiar with all of them since she carried them around basically her entire life. How many cards were supposed to be in that deck, several thousand?

I was disappointed in the ending and how Red Mask was supposedly created. What can be said about ALL the people in the world who seek revenge? Readers will understand that statement once they finish the novel.

All in all an entertaining novel, but could have been better!
